Comment Of The Day: Let Us Praise Beautiful Pants, O Ye Children

I wish to sing the praises of beautiful pants. I’d never paid much attention before. I generally focused on getting them to fit (5’2), reasonably in style, decent quality – and cheap. This time, I decided to invest a little. I got three pair – 2 from Jones New York (I’ll follow them anywhere) and one from Alfani. The Alfani’s were a disappointment – I bought them a size bigger because I thought my size didn’t fit. But after a day’s wearing, they had slipped from my waist & were held up by my hips – not a great look. I think I’ll find a seamstress to put belt loops on. But the Jones – ooh la la. Serious, panting pant-love. A light summer wool – gorgeous fabric, in blue-grey and textured light brown. Beautifully made. Well-proportioned for my short legs. And pockets – pockets, I tell you. These pants seem to class up whatever I wear with them. I just feel more polished and put together. There, I’ve said it, and I’m not ashamed.

Sister, we AFFIRM your testimony. Thank you for sharing. Leggings are of Satan, but a good pair of pants turneth away God’s wrath.

  1. I’ve been searching for decent dress pants for ages and I finally found a pair and fell in love with Victoria’s Secret Christie fit straight leg pants. The petite length fits me perfectly.

They do make me feel more polished and prepared for anything, and they are as comfy as jeans. I will be budgeting the taupey/gray and the dark red as I am able.

  2. Agreed. I have a pair of gray pants that I bought several years ago at a Lane Bryant store. I think they’re made of teflon, but they have a great cut and they still look good and cross well from casual to a dressier look. (Really they do.) At some point I’m going to need to have them deconstructed so that someone can make a pattern and make ms a new pair. They’re the best fitting pair of pants I’ve ever had. [I have two pairs of LB pants of the same indestructible material that are my wardrobe staples, and I HAUNT ebay for the same style! They fit SO well, don’t they? That material is fabulous. And they don’t cut their legs huge like everyone else does, so they don’t swim on me. – PB]

  3. Thanks for this, Peebs. I got mine from Macy’s petite section at their downtown Chicago store. I am so accustomed to the wee rack for us shorties that I see in most stores, I was totally unprepared for the splendor. It reminded me of when my rabbi friend told me she would go to an all-kosher restaurant. So many choices, it was a little paralyzing at first. But I ADJUSTED. [Oh, God bless those big city Macy’s. They are wonderful. They even have a huge selection of plus-size petites for the small and round among us! LOVE them. – PB]
