This. is. genius.
You know how I’m always ranting with foam coming out of my mouth about not giving parishioners TMI over the summer, right? Just do a keyword search on “modesty” and “bathing suits” and you’ll see where the debate rages.
Alert reader Andy just made me aware of the presence of Modestkini.com, a British company whose mission in life is to help you frolic in the waves without revealing too much skin. Check it out!
I would totally wear this to a church pool party. It would be eccentric, indeed, but so much better than displaying more flesh than I want to share with my good people.

I love how she looks like Zero Mostel. I love this look. Seriously. I do.
Fellas? Wear something like this and you won’t accidentally … well, I’m just going to say there was this moment at summer camp when I was about eleven and I was out sailing with this guy named Jeff, who I had a huge crush on. Anyway, being a guy, Jeff sat with his legs splayed open and thus it was that I had my first view of family jewels that were not from my own family. Traumatic!!!! If you wear these, that can’t happen:
And don’t go telling me I’m all prudish and body-negative and nonsense like that. I just stayed at a guest house in Key West with a clothing-optional pool, and there’s a reason I don’t have a tan line. That’s what God made vacations for, darlings, where you can go several thousand miles from home and get the sun on your entire person. In the parish, keep your entire person modestly clad.

I have heard of them- one of the companies that has come into being primarily because of the growing Muslim market-
ADORABLE! Want want want!!!
The semi-covered one that I looked at recommended that you wear a swimsuit or bikini underneath. What’s up w/ that?
[Weird! I don’t know! – PB]
But still- I think you need to stay away from thongs & bikinis but a tank suit with good coverage is fine even if you are a minister-
I’m going to check this out–it sorta screams “Duggar” at me but I’m going to give it a look. I buy suits from Lands End and they are really supportive and I think flattering. They are good “mom” suits which is similar to “modest pastor” I think.
The thing I like about Modeskini, rather than “Wholesome wear” or whatever it is that the Duggars wear, is that a) Modeskini is more “some people are more comfy in covered suits” than “women’s bodies are disgraceful/cause men to sin!” and b) (most) are more attractive. There are a few, especially in the plus size, that just make me go “WHAT?!?!” but some of them manage to pull of “retro” rather than “LOOK HOW MODEST I AM BEING I AM THE MOST MODEST OF THE MODEST” which… isn’t too modest.

This one is very cute if it wasn’t made out of swimsuit material I’d buy it for a weekend outfit
but I dont’ think we need to import other countries’ notions about women concealing themselves, as another poster mentioned a “mom suit” from Lands End is fine
I saw the full range of these at the pool in Bethlehem (Beit Jala) this summer. And the reason that suit says wear a suit underneath is the lack of padding means nipple texture will be visible.
Very cute. I am a youth minister whose kids LOVE to go swimming! I bought my nice tankinis for my European honeymoon and are low cut. I am yet to find a tankini that is not low cut that doesn’t cost a ransom. I always wear a tank or a camisole over it when I go with the kids. I know they are wearing a lot less than me, but it is still up to me to be an example without covering up to the point they think I am ashamed of my bod.
