I know these are frumpy (cork soles!) but they could be styled to be cute (I’m thinking maxi-skirt, white V-neck linen shirt, awesome long necklace, free-form but not Earth Mothery linen jacket). The question is, can I preach in them?
I need shoes I can preach in and then lead a full-day of workshops in afterward.

They’re TEVAS and I found them on e-bay. Does anyone have a pair? I think they might be so flat as to make the foot look really blah but they’re NOT Mary Janes.
[full disclosure: I wrote this post while running a fairly high fever. That should explain it! Enjoy the laffs! – PB]

No.
Ditto.
Is there some reason you can’t just CHANGE your shoes?
I have a fever. I suppose I should have said that up front. I must be hallucinating. Thanks for keeping me safe from harm, girls.
How about a new headline: “SHOULD THESE SHOES BE BURNED?”
Sorry, no.
I have some awesome Teva boots with the same sole and they are crazy comfortable. But I’d say these definitely have the earth mama look going for them.
I’m in Hawaii right now and my (male) colleague says Mass in flip flops which work contextually. But a resounding NO! to those shoes above.
Oh dear. I think that’s a no. They look comfy but not terribly smart?
Sometimes my brain just sees shoes that look comfy and thinks mmmmm comfort… without taking a blind bit of interest in at what the shoes look like. I think this is a most definate no!
No. Just…no. Awful.
Okay, so you CAN’T justify that…
Has some deranged person broken into PB’s account and posted this? Do I need to get in the car and drive to Norwell to see if you’re actually tied up in the basement right now or something?
HA HA ! No, but I do have a flu and a fever so that’s the explanation.
“This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System…this is only a test…”
You were just testing us right??? [I was. I was under the influence of the le Fey Carabosse- the bad fairy. I still have a fever. ! Waaa! – PB]
Of course you can preach in these. You can preach in these shoes if you’re, say, in the Colorado Rockies. At an intentional community in the mountains. A vegan, intentional community. Raw foods, vegan. And nudist. Yeah. You can absolutely, positively preach in these shoes if you’re leading a service at a nudist, vegan raw foods, intentional community in the Colorado Rockies. At dawn on the solstice….
[I don’t think it’s really fair to make me laugh that hard when I have a congested chest and it hurts to laugh. – PB]
Ps. I hope you’re feeling better today.
😀
Oh, my. This is documented proof that fevers do affect people. I saw that shoe and I thought . . . . . . . . . wha’ happened to my browser’s bookmark?
Am deeply relieved to see Fluevogs nearby. A sign of recovery, to be sure.
Get the fluevogs instead
You don’t need those shoes. You need some hot chicken soup with a judicious amount of cayenne pepper in it instead. [That is the God’s own truth, girl. A very kind parishioner just dropped off some turkey soup and I have some amazing aleppo pepper that I would not have thought to add. Thank you. – PB]
