Shoe Mocking, Part II (Bare Feet Shoes?)

Now that I have mercilessly mocked J. for her HIDEOUS CPE SHOES, I invite mockery of shoes that I am considering for my month in London.
I am not a city-dweller. I drive everywhere. For walking in the city, I wear boots. However, since boots in July will likely be a bit warm, I need something VERY comfortable and a little bit kickin’ for getting around the city. Obviously I won’t preach in these, but I may walk to the Tube in them on Sunday mornings while carrying nice shoes in my bag.

One of my issues is that I hate wearing socks once the temperature gets higher than 65 degrees. I hate those little footie things that always slip off, and shoe liners are dumb and irritating to me. I wear socks with sneakers, of course (although I LOATHE sneakers and try not to be seen in public in them). But ideally I’m a bare foot girl in the summer.

Anyway, having done a thorough summer shoe inventory (when I’m home I exist in Tevas and other sports sandals) and realizing that I need a more covered up shoe for the city, I thought something like this might be a wise idea for long walking:

I like them in bronze leather, not this moss nubuck. They are the Clarke Wave Wheel. Anyone have them?

I’ll probably wind up just wearing Tevas everywhere and getting icky dirty city feet. Or just better breaking in my cute Alegria Mary Janes. (which I would never wear for ministerial leadership work). Yea, that. Okay, well thanks for letting me think this through!

Shoe Lust For the Day

Oooooooooooooh, I LOVE THESE.

Pikolinos Gomera, brown. Size 37. $155. WANT.

Strangely enough, even though these don’t look as cute as the Gomera’s, they look way better on me. WANT MORE. $180, though. Pffft.

Graduation! (I have one more week to justify drooling over expensive shoes for graduation!)
But seriously, I tried both pairs on in NYC and I’ve been pining for the latter pair ever since.

So this seems as good a time as any to say: PeaceBang welcomes your financial gifts for the care and feeding of your devoted blogger and Minister of Fabulousness. PayPal is easy and fun! Click on the link above under “Make A Gift” if the Spirit moves you.

Ain’t those PRIDDY?? And really comfortable, too. That’s a good make: has anyone else worn Pikolino’s?

The New Ugliest Shoe

I know this is so mean, because this company has a wonderful commitment to put shoes on the world’s people, but my Lord on high, they are UG-LAY.

The deal is that the company, Tom’s, sends a pair of shoes to someone who needs shoes for every pair you buy. Which is awesome. The problem is that the shoes are criminally hideous, have no support, and are made of cloth. All for like $70.

All I’m saying is, by all means be a good doobie and buy a pair to wear around the house or whatever. They’d make GREAT slippers. Slippers that you wear in the house. When you’re alone. In the dark.

New Shoe Lust (Fluevogs, Of Course)

So, okay, which of these could I ostensibly justify as a graduation gift to myself?

I
I feel that I might NEED THOSE to go with my beautiful ivory preaching robe that a dear parishioner is making for me out of an Art Deco-ish antique tablecloth given as a gift by another dear parishioner. And don’t these seem like the most amazing go-to shoes to wear for weddings? They’re very sort-of Circuit Rider Preacher Lady to me.

Or maybe these,

I think the first pair are beyond gorgeous but I have a really short instep and t-straps are often too long on me.

Can I Preach In These?

I know these are frumpy (cork soles!) but they could be styled to be cute (I’m thinking maxi-skirt, white V-neck linen shirt, awesome long necklace, free-form but not Earth Mothery linen jacket). The question is, can I preach in them?

I need shoes I can preach in and then lead a full-day of workshops in afterward.

They’re TEVAS and I found them on e-bay. Does anyone have a pair? I think they might be so flat as to make the foot look really blah but they’re NOT Mary Janes.

[full disclosure: I wrote this post while running a fairly high fever. That should explain it! Enjoy the laffs! – PB]
