Hi darlings!
I’ve been out of town being inspired by colleagues and I know I’m way behind on my blogging.
Stay tuned, because I have Thoughts! And Opinions! And photos of clergymen in stitched pocket jeans! And a whole review of Mellow Monk Green Tea after I’ve tried to incorporate green tea into my life, courtesy of that company, who sent me three big packs of their product to try. I am a hard-core black tea and coffee drinker so I am going to see how this goes. I am having a mug of their classic flavor right now and it’s gentle and nutty and I can see ending the day with this beverage, especially if I’ve overdone my sodium intake. The tea feels very cleansing.
I’m having body image confusion that is upsetting me quite a bit, which I know many of you can relate to. I was feeling very bloated and fat the other day (despite the fact that I am fat every day, I often do not feel bloated and fat — but I had had a big dinner with wine the previous two nights and was really feeling it in the gut), but as I walked into my hotel room and pulled up my tummy trimmer band, my jeans actually fell down. They FELL OFF. I knew they were too big and I knew they had stretched out during the days I wore them but they FELL. OFF.
So there I was with my jeans falling off and not understanding how I could possibly be any smaller than I was six months ago. I don’t see it, I don’t really feel it. And this is disconcerting. I don’t see it when I gain weight, I don’t see it when I reduce.
My commitment is just to keep abstaining from compulsive overeating. That’s my “Keep It Simple, Stupid.”
I so enjoyed consulting with one of you lovely pigeons last week in preparation for a very important job interview. I’m happy to say that our sister will be moving into a big metro area church that she very much wants to serve. During our conversation I laid down the following Law:
If you want to look like an important leader in a metro setting…
No rubber soled shoes.
No A-line skirts.
No soft pastels.

I can completely relate to body confusion. Six years after losing 70 pounds, I will STILL try on clothes at the store that are too big. It’s like my mind refuses to believe that I don’t wear that size anymore.
Looking forward to hearing the Thoughts! And Opinions!
Thanks for all you do! I read frequently but rarely comment. I have a question on this one, though. Why no A-line skirts?
Miranda beat me to the question about A-line skirts. I’ve got a “lot of figure” and look like a sausage in pencil skirts even with industrial-strength spandex underneath, so eliminating those AND the froofy swishy boho skirts my pre-professional self adores AND the conservative but potentially frumpy A-lines leaves, well, pants.
So very grateful for the wardrobe advice, which led to a successful “introduction” (which is what we Methodists call appointment interviews), which led to an announcement in my current and future churches yesterday. Preparing to move at the end of June, clearing out everything I don’t want too move, and trying to conceptualize a minimalist wardrobe that will have me leaving the house every day prepared for anything that is likely to happen, which will often include walking a mile in my own shoes. Spent some time this weekend studying Hillary Clinton’s wardrobe choices… PeaceBang is the best!
