Yes, darlings, I CAME OUT as a Steampunk aficionado in Louisville.

I am obsessed with the Victorian Era, first of all, and I adore the theatricality of Steampunk. Thank you, Steampunk! ANYTHING that will inspire our gents to some kind of personal style that has more flair to it than Patagonia or the Gap is a happy thing.
This isn’t a look you want to wear more than a touch of, as you’d look bonkers if you did (unless you live in a big city, in which case you can push the envelope a bit more).
The thing I love with these looks is the layers, the proportions (so especially awesome on tall fellas) and the materials. Buttery tan leather trench? OWWCH! Boy, would that bring a guy out of the dullsville clergy image and make a statement. Hats? Yes, please. Jackets, boots (okay, not tucked in), interesting layers, a sense of fun? Again, the idea is to go to a site like this and just educate your eye. Have fun, see if some of the looks speak to you. Those frock coats are to DIE! Or maybe this is my inner dandy gay male finding his style. I don’t know what it is but I love this stuff. I have never particularly wished to be a man but when I see these clothes I do get yearnings to get all ‘punked out.

Church today was marvelous, even though we didn’t celebrate World Communion Sunday. A drumming group, Sheltered Reality, led worship and it was OFF. THE. HOOK! Friends, we had CHURCH today!
I love corsets but am not brave enough to wear one that can be seen. Can a minister wear a corset in public?

A friend of mine’s nephew had a steampunk wedding in the middle of a field – the pix were amazing!
The frock coat and hat are awesome. As an aside, when I served the Universalist Church in Eldorado, they had some old photos of ministers who wore similar frocked coats and hats. The female ministers wore similar hats, and these high collared black dresses with a length of lace coming down the front.
