I am SUCH a sucker for a big flower brooch. They came back into style in a big way when Sarah Jessica Parker wore one on “Sex In The City,” but they’re a timeless classic that can kick a fairly staid outfit into Really Pretty.
I used to wear a bright spring green flower and a black and white striped one (rosette) with some regularity until both became playthings for my cat, that minx. I still have one big black one that’s not so much fun because, you know, it’s BLACK and how much fun is a BLACK FLOWER on a BLACK BLAZER.
So I went looking for handmade floral brooches on (where else?) Etsy.com and I found this vendor, Pigdreams, who was a double super bonus because not only did I really like her work, I extra loved her styling skills!! Look how fab:

I have never liked them but I like these pics. I especially like the waist one. How do you place them on your shoulders, bosom, blazers? I am really curvy and compact and feel like I have a lot of canvas to work with.

I often wear them at my shoulder or collar as a boob de-emphasizing trick. However, the first time I wore one I got shy on the bus on the way to work and tucked it on my bag. It stayed there for a while as I built up the confidence to rock it on my actual body!

I LOVE IT! These are completely fabulous–and yes, both conservative and eccentric at the same time, which strikes me as something really valuable for a minister’s wardrobe. I could easily imagine these adding personality to some of my basic blazers. Thanks for the inspiration!
