I came across these images of cultural figures taken at a conference held last year in Buenos Aires. These dudes have got it going on in the “I look like an interesting, vibrant, creative person with major brains in his head who looks energized and psyched about his work, not drained of every bit of mojo God gave me like so many American male pastors:”

Junot Diaz. Just plain smoking hot, totally awesome grooming and styling.

Francesco Tonucci. That’s how you do the full Santa beard. Look at his interesting eyewear. Such a vibrant presence, too. Humor, warmth, he seems plugged in.

Wilbur Smith – GREAT eyewear!

Fernando Vallejo. Just looking very together with those great glasses and the suit, and the hair is AWESOME. He’s going bald but he leaves the rest of the hair longer and it looks healthy and he is just plain goin’ ON. How many guys with hair like that do you see with the hair all flat and sweaty? Eww!

More Junot Diaz just for free because who ever gets tired of looking at him?

We LOVE Junot Diaz’s book “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao”. I heard him reading awesomely on NPR (Studio 360?) and fell in l-u-v. I’m amazed at how much untranslated Spanish he uses in that book. Robert & I like to read out loud to each other in restaurants and can’t quite do all his n-words. But you are right- hot, hottie, hotterrific.
PB, I had the pleasure of hearing Junot Diaz speak at an outdoor book festival in DC last year. It was a wet & dreary day, but he pulled off a hooded sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers with incredible panache.
