Because you're in the public eye, and God knows you need to look good.
Geriatric-looking, yet still high-heeled enough to make you teeter, wedge or no wedge. And is that velcro they attach with? I’m sorry, that is a no-no for anyone old enough to buckle her own shoes, unless the velcro is so well-concealed that no one will guess.
What is with the ever-growing heels? Am I the only woman left in the USA who can’t walk (or even stand) in heels over 1 1/2″ without weeping with toe pain? It’s really annoying–it’s hard to find low heels that are elegant-looking, because whenever someone does design an elegant shoe they say “And let’s put it on a 5″ stiletto!”

I’m not sure it’s toe pain I get, but I found out the hard way that I canNOT wear a higher heel–even if it’s in the wedge style. Wedge or no… 1 1/2″ is my limit, as well.
Though boots are an occasional exception to that rule. I can’t wear them all week, though–I have to alternate them with lower-heeled shoes.

I can’t wear heels, even 2″ ones. I’ve just put my last two pairs, in nearly new condition, into the charity bag. Flats. I’m short. I can’t change that or hide it.
I have learned that I have to wear crocs (sorry) or flip flops when going back and forth to work and when walking (I do 2-3 miles a day) and wear my metallic clogs inside only, in the winter I wear flat heeled boots. The heels are too much for me it helps that I’m 5’8″ so the height factor doesn’t matter so much.
I’ve never been able to wear heels more than 1″, and so I’ve been wearing running/walking shoes most of my life. I keep hoping that next winter will bring flat-soled ankle boots back. My last pair are wearing out.
Wah wah. I for one love them, and have a similar pair! The heels on those puppies are totally reasonable, and fashionable too!
PaganBuddy – where do you live? In my neck of the woods (Seattle), I see plenty of women wearing flat ankle boots.
I like to wear heels – I just don’t like the wedge heel. I like to feel the ground under my feet, so I choose shoes with flexible soles. The wedge makes me feel uncertain of what’s going on.
Also, I think these shoes lean on side of geriatric due to the solid color, the velcro, and the clothy exterior.
