Because you're in the public eye, and God knows you need to look good.

I hate flip flops. I can’t stand that little thing between my toes.
But I do like heels! And doubt the few hours I wear them are going to do any harm.
I find them extremely uncomfortable, actually, since the little rubber bit chafes my toes. Lordy, I AM a delicate little flower 😉
Flip-flops are only slightly better than crocs since they don’t look intentionally dorky, but they are still cheap rubber.
Do you have info to back this claim up? I’ve read that flip flops actually exercise your feet in a good way. They are very comfortable to me and you can find some that are very pretty. And considering that I can get the cheap ones for like a doller and wear them for years they are very economical for my family on a teacher’s salary.
Maybe not from the pulpit though. Our priest did wear orange flip flops on our VBS wrap up Sunday though. It was to match the orange VBS t-shirts my husband designed (and that everyone complained about LOL).
Another time at a week day service at church an older lady was complaining to her middle aged daughter about the daughter wear flip flops to church. We looked around the room and everyone in attendance was wearing flip flops except the older lady. (The priest had a swollen foot and couldn’t fit into anything else.) I don’t think that old lady ever came back.
Like DUH – there is no support. My right foot has been pronated for 40 years after wearing flip flops most of a summer. I was around 12, so I doubt that anyone could have told me much.
Don’t do it.
I have a friend that is a podiatrist, he says flip flops guarantee a wealthy retirement for him and a nice education for his children.
Flip-flops – “maybe” not from the pulpit? Oh dear, indie. Please tell me you’re new to this site!
*applauding*
My favorite (not preaching) shoes are my Croc flip flops. I know… but they don’t look like the cloggy style shoes, and they actually have support AND cush. I’ve actually worn them for a day out at the theme park nearby and my feet were less fatigued than when I wear my running shoes.
[Laura, Crocs are THE DEVIL to PeaceBang! Secretly, though, they are very comfortable and the other styles can be kinda cute. Just NOT FOR WORK. – PB]
Lack of support, the annoying “flipflop” that announces one’s approach, and also the possibility of street dirt and bacteria:

flip flops are bad, barefoot is bad so are heels & Ugg boots which are the only ones that keep my feet warm in winter.
Need to wear something. . .
