Back on Jan. 15th I wrote about wearing a crazy hat to a graveside service by request of the family. The entry is here. Some of you wrote in asking for a visual, and today I remembered to snap a photo. Here is the Crazy Hat, for your amusement or horror. Remember that I wore it with a sombre, long, black wool coat and gloves:

Crazy, yes. But not horrible. It’s not a hat that takes itself seriously… which means that the wearer doesn’t either–it’s fun. So it’s ok.

Peace Bang, the benediction response at a recent funeral of mine was “Toot, toot, tootsie, Goodbye” as sung by Al Jolson. It was in the deceased’s will.
I like that entry in part because you were about to go on vacation – and find Sweetiebang, though you didn’t know it yet. Perhaps a little spirit of the hat and that memorial came with you?
Thanks for the picture. I really get why you were concerned. And why it was so great for the family member to encourage you to wear it.
Is it me or does the photo bring out the similarity in spirit you share with your sister? There is just something about the fresh face and the smile.
the little comment re: the blush pearl lipstick reminded me…
i’ve tried both that and the “nude pearl” which are very close.. for some of us paler girls, the nude pearl is a better match, especially with a little gloss overtop… still love the product and wouldn’t have tried either shade without your recommendations!
