UGH!! Vanity problems!
But really, I went last week to have my hair colored and foiled. But ’twas I who was foiled by a foolish colorist who completely failed to do one entire side of my head. I didn’t notice it for a couple of days because I thought surely it was a matter of shampooing or something. This is what we call Wishful Thinking.
I had already done one color correction at that salon (that is, went back int because I wasn’t satisfied with the job the stylist did), and had also had my head burned during a blow-out. Fool me once, right? But I really like this salon and I had one super fantastic color experience with this gal so I figured I had found a place I could land in my new home (I really, really miss my old salon, now more than ever).
How hard CAN COLOR BE?
So I went into Ulta for a trim and found that not only was the foil completely missing from one side of my head, my hair had been cut so unevenly the last time it was done, I needed a real chop to even it all out. What the sputtering what!?
I pay GOOD DAMNED MONEY for these services! I don’t have the time or desire to keep going back for a second or third visit when the first one doesn’t manage to turn my very ordinary brown hair into slightly nicer, perfectly ordinary brown hair!
So now, after paying more perfectly good money to another stylist, I have extremely blonde hair. And I just bloddy well give up.
Yes, there are bigger problems in the world, but this hair color is way too light and brings out the bags under my eyes.
Oy.
Please contribute your hair woes in the comments. Yes, I will complain to the salon. This is ridiculous. How do you do a partial foil on ONE SIDE OF SOMEONE’S HEAD?

I finally bought professional styling scissors and learned to cut my own hair. I got SO tired of paying $90 for a “pixie cut” that every stylist seemed to interpret as “standard 12-year old boy haircut.” Well worth the money for good scissors and the hours spent learning from YouTube tutorials… [I am so impressed! – PB]
I think you look beautiful, Peace Bang!! I know it’s not what you were expecting, but why not live with it for a while and try it on as a new look — and then tell us all if blonde (ministers) really do have more fun! In cases of disasters and different-than-expected outcomes, my motto is always, “I’ve decided to find it charming.” I’m with Courtney. I have short hair and can’t afford to pay for cuts and colors every two weeks (totally $140 for everything, with tip!), so I do my own. Alas, it sometimes looks that way, but it’s usually quite passable. I get compliments regularly on my hair from strangers, so it can’t be as bad as I sometimes think….much like you, PB!
You will get a great big dose of collegial opinions this week – and I’m guessing that people will love it as much as we do from the photo. Personally, I think the worst thing is that it makes you feel weird – and pissed off that you paid a lot for something that makes you feel weird.
I have had happy hair since I made the decision to go to an expensive stylist. I did have a period where our schedules didn’t mesh, and I went to her assistant. She did an okay job, but I was soon left with the side tufts that make me feel all 1970s. I was grateful for my next appointment with Darling Eraka who keeps notes on my hair “issues” and discusses them as seriously with me as we would the pastoral problems of our beloveds.
It’s hard when you gat a bad haircut – it isn’t the biggest problem in the world but does effect how we move in the world sometimes. I just don’t like to worry about it.
My hair woes are the result of having severely broken my arm almost a month ago and not being able to wash or style my hair. I go to a salon a couple of times a week to the tune of $45 plus tip for a wash and blowout.
I never really usual have bad hair days. Just lucky in the hair department. But here I am at General Assembly and my hair is looking progressively worse. I need to find a salon, but I’m sick on top of everything.
