The Rev. Paul Block Rocks

Paul Block, Transfiguration Lutheran Church, The Bronx
Knows how to wear the blue clericals.
Knows how to do the beard thing without letting it get scraggly. Because it CAN BE DONE. Regardez:

It doesn’t hurt that he’s miles tall, handsome and a wonderful human being and pastor. All that and combs his hair, too!! All kidding aside, Paul is a white boy from the Midwest serving in THE BRONX, okay? He puts to rest the ridiculous notion that one should be super casual (read: unkempt/sloppy) in order to relate to “the people.” That’s a disrespectful, lazy and erroneous assumption that should be spanked and sent to its room without dinner.

Love you, Paul!! xoox

  1. Really? You’re going to highlight his good looks. That’s like saying Jesus was handsome because he had blue eyes. It’s his theology that is handsome. His ability to bring insanely diverse communities to a point of resurrection. Yeah, I thinking he’s handsome too. And, don’t say so on the internets or it will go to his head!

  2. I once went to an ordination in a diverse congregation. There were many in the local community who were really struggling with the demands of life. In order to ‘relate to the people’ a number of clergy guests wore casual attire, while members of the host congregation wore their very finest. I felt embarrassed for those who had missed the point so very badly.
