Lip Syncing

As I was watching this clip (because I love all three of these guys) it occurred to me that Lip Sync Wars would be a fabulous exercise for ministers!! So many of us are uncomfortable with movement and have had no experience working with our whole instrument (that is, thinking of public speaking as a whole body art form), and that leads to less effective communication with our communities.

Check this out. It’s very funny but it’s also instructive. These gentlemen are using their whole selves to put their songs across. I won’t get into the politics of white men using the moves and stylings of African- American musical artists, but I detect more than a bit of disapproval on the faces of Fallon’s house band when Miss Beyonce comes up for imitation.

In the privacy of your own home, this would be a GREAT way to loosen up, become better acquainted with your facial muscles and body, and crack yourself up at the same time. Enjoy!

  1. The elimination of contestants on Rupaul’s Drag Race is decided by a lip sync competition. It’s a big part of what drag queens do, and the videos are definitely worth the time for any aspiring lip-syncer (or anyone who loves fabulous things).

  2. Very, very fun. Brings me back to my hair brush microphone days. And I have recently decided I will watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt do anything. What do you think of “Hit Record on TV”?
