Hi Boo Boo Kitties!
OH my gosh, what am I doing writing to you at almost 11pm on Saturday night?
Just dropping in, really, to tell you that there is one easy thing you can do to better assure your professional, polished image: make sure your pants are the right length.
Rilly!
Pants of skimpy lengths on both men and women look juvenile, like you just had a growth spurt and mom hasn’t had a chance to let down the hem or sew you up a new pair of big boy or big girl slacks. Making sure that your pants reach the top of your shoes will assure a much more elegant line to your leg, unless you are intentionally sporting a style of cropped or pegged leg trousers.
I see a lot of very ill-fitting pants that add many pounds, many years and unintended sloppiness or informality to ministerial work clothes. Far, far better to have one or two well-tailored pair of slacks in your wardrobe than to own a stack of pants that grab you in the wrong places or drown you in floppy fabric, or pool around your ankles or skimp and end right around your ankle. Too-short pants can really ruin the look of the rest of your outfit. Again, I’m talking about pants that just don’t fit right in the length, not slim-line pants that are designed to be cropped at the ankle.
A beautifully hemmed trouser is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.
Especially if you wear flats, make sure you have an appropriate hem length.

Cigarette pant style with shorter hem:

This ties into a question I had on ankle boots. Is the pant length acceptable if you are wearing ankle boots and there is a gap between the bottom of the pants and the top of the boots when you are sitting (even though there is no gap when you are standing)? To me it feels sloppy. Of course, crossing your legs makes the gap more visible. I am short and have to have all my pants hemmed and would hate to need two sets of pants – one to go with heels or ankle boots, and one to go with flats. What do you think?
Ahhhh, Allison, I feel your pain. I have the same dilemma/question.
Stacy & Clinton would tell you to have 2 sets of pants.
