Ramona’s Review of Products By Tarte, Bare Minerals And Algenist

Long-time BTFM Pigeon Ramona got all excited about some new make-up she bought and took the time to do a product review! Here she writes,

“I wanted to let you know about a couple of face care/makeup items I’ve been using that are amazing. I had wandered into a Sephora, looking for clear powder. I heard about it on a beauty segment of the Today show, and hadn’t been able to find in it the drug stores.

The Sephora consultant gave me Tarte smooth operator clay finishing powder. It’s truly amazing – it doesn’t clump in my wrinkles, which was what I was looking for. An added benefit – the clay wicks away moisture, which means I get to have a dry face even when I’m having a hot flash! I can’t touch my face during the hot flash, but my makeup doesn’t run and it still has a matte finish after the hot flash is over. The powder is not truly clear – it does lighten my complexion a bit, but blush and a bit of bronzer which I wear anyway take care of that.

The consultant asked if I used an eye cream. I have really dark circles (thanks Mom!) and was fighting puffiness. She gave me a sample of Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm. In just a couple of weeks, the puffiness was gone, the dark circles had lightened and the crepe-y wrinkly lines were going away. It’s pricey – $65 for a 0.5 oz jar, but a tiny bit is all I use each day so it lasts.

She recommended Tarte’s tea tree oil concealer – which I love. I thought the color was a bit yellow on me and that’s when the consultant gave me the best eye product ever – concealer powder! I had never heard of it before but now I won’t go out without it. I use Bare Minerals Mulit-tasking concealer powder. I was worried that a powder would emphasize the crepe-y lines and wrinkles, but it doesn’t. There must be some light diffusing stuff in it because it really hides the dark circles (did I mention that my circles are really, really dark). I use the Tarte concealer on my rosacea too (but not the concealer powder) and it provides long-lasting coverage.
