Because I never hesitate to humiliate myself in the quest to give you decent advice, I will post a BEFORE photo of me with Monster Damaged Hair!
This is after a summer of dry shampooing, stabbing pins through it, sun damage, trying out the best gel nail polish, teasing and hair spraying unto the death for the show I was in. It is freshly washed, I have put a glossing product in it and dried it with the diffuser.
Since WEN was a failure, I am visiting my hair salon tomorrow for a hair glossing treatment, using loc products (I don’t want to do Keratin since I like my little bit of curliness) that I hope will close the cuticle. I will also have a bit of toner applied to tone down the brassy yellow, and get a wee trim. I vow not to stab chopsticks into my hair (I have ordered some properly polished French hair sticks) although I shan’t give up dry shampoo and teasing for volume.
Take a look at this hair restoration nyc company that can help you recover your hair and improve your self confidence with the hairstyle of your dreams.
PRP therapy for hair loss is also a good option for people who are unable to get a hair transplant and would benefit more from non-invasive surgical methods, learn about PRP hair treatment at My Botox LA Med Spa website.
I will report in with some AFTER photos in a timely fashion. As always (I do need to mention this from time to time), all photos of me are by me unless otherwise noted, and are my property. Thankyouverymuch).
Over and out,
Your faithful correspondent,
PeaceBang

I pay for hair that looks like that.
It’s the French morning-after look. [GIRL, it’s damaged big time. Thanks for being so nice but I’m ever so sure you don’t really mean it. – PB]
hey, i’m with carol. i love the way your hair looks, all wavy and tousled and fabulous. [SERIOUSLY, look at it. The breakage. It’s in broken, frizzy PIECES all over the scalp. I most ardently hope no one thinks it’s okay for anyone to walk around with hair this unkempt. I agree that the general idea is fine but SERIOUSLY, this is witchy scraggly hair and totally unprofessional! – PB]
Maybe unprofessional, but still fabulous! (seriously) And you don’t wear your clergy hat all the time.
I’ve had very good luck with Redken’s satinwear 02 for treating my damaged hair. It protects from heat and adds a nice gloss. Since it’s a pump product the amount you use is a bit easier to judge than a spray.
Well … I’m not suggesting you preach with it like that, or go to a church meeting, or speak at the state capitol. My hair is very fine, thin and super straight. I found a cut I love and that works with my hair instead of against it … but I do long for wavy, thick, mermaidy hair – damaged or no!
I don’t know. Maybe you could skip the treatment and cut and go with dreadlocks.
I’m loving the undone ‘do. LOVE the colours together and yes, there seems to be a bit ‘o damage on the top, but hon, LOOK at those eyes and LOOK at that smile! Fabulous, fabulous! I’m afraid now that the “after” pictures will be a disappointment 🙂
oh dear oh dear! when i saw the thumbnail in the post preview in google reader, I thought it WAS dredlocks! But I thought, “Peacebang would NEVER. Perhaps it is a picture from her hippiest undergraduate days.”
have you ever thought of cutting it short? to see who you’d be then? and the bonus would be that all the damage would be cut off….and it would grow in if you didn’t like it. [I’ve had short hair since first grade. Blech. I am DONE with short hair for a good, long time. – PB]
It shouldn’t matter and it doesn’t, but lordy (on top of your great skin and fantastic personality and style) you look 10+ years younger with this longer hair. I know at a certain point (I’m about there) “looking younger” than we are while carrying all our life-earned wisdom, the experience of blessed years, hard work and accumulated education, and so on, is really fun!
When I still colored my hair, I would have wished to God to get the dynamic look you have here!
For the dryness/damage, perhaps try coconut oil? I use barlean’s, the pure kind you can eat, yumm and smells great. It really softens hair into “repair” from our abuses, differently than the various protein or silicone coatings on the hair do. It soaks into the hair better than other natural oils too, which is not just opinion I think but real chemistry of the oil! 🙂
Yes, you are right – it does look rather dry and messy. But with a good conditioning treatment and a bit of TLC, it will look fabulous.
(Wish I had wavy thick hair…)
Once my hair looked like that at the end of the summer I went to the hairdresser and they did a 15 minute deep condition which helped a lot. But seriously it looked like the tousled look they are wearing on the runways in NYC.
