I’m particularly excited to welcome clergy authoresses Ashley-Anne Masters and Stacy Smith to share the spotlight and to promote their new book, “Bless Her Heart: Life As a Young Clergy Woman.” I contributed a blurb to this great little volume and can’t wait to see it in print. Speaking of the “young” part of “young clergywoman”…when do we stop being “young” in ordained ministry? Women, I mean. I am almost 35. Prime of career for many other occupations and yet the minority at gatherings of dioceses, provinces, etc. Just wondering about this. When I was ordained at 28, sure that was very young.
I dunno, Joy. Good question. I tend to think that “young” ends at about 25, myself. I’m tired of our infantilizing culture. Young is as young does.

And speaking of young… I sometimes wonder if it’s about context. When I look around the church I serve, I’m the youngest in attendance (there are no children). And when I go to wider church meetings, I’m the second youngest (my husband, also clergy, is the youngest). So, even though I’m 33 I’m considered “young”. Of course, looking around I could be considered “young” into my 50s which might be okay 🙂 Because young does not mean inexperienced or unwise.
This sounds like such an awesome event…I really wish I lived closer…and yes, LOVING the book cover.

I so wish I could attend this event. I know and love the authors of this book and they are awesome! I am not a pastor myself, but I am a PK and a pastor’s wife, and I really enjoyed their stories and their beautiful voices in this book. I hope every one of your followers buys a copy!
