London!

Peach pies!

I am here in London, writing a quick bit before going to see the fabulous “cabaret messiah” Justin Vivian Bond at the SoHo Theatre.

On a Saturday night, yet! When preaching in the morning!

I stayed my first night here with a devoted reader of this blog who is a writer and NOT EVEN A CLERGYWOMAN! She just loves the blog because it’s fun! Did you EVAH?
Anyway, everbodyy should have a beautiful English friend named Wendy and now I’ve got one. I’m reading her book Daughter of Dust: Growing Up An Outcast In the Desert of Sudan and am very impressed with her talent, too. Also she has a lovely, hospitable husband and two cats who are named Baby and Lily. They are exceedingly beautiful and striped.

I’m speaking in choppy sentences because I’ve drunk far too much iced coffee today and my brain is only working in spastic little spurts of caffeine buzz.

I preach in the morning at the Unitarian Church in Newington Green and am thinking of you all with love.

Will post soon. Promise.

Keep meaning to say, if you’rebot taking a taxi to NG then good way to get there from Bethnal Green is toake your way to the Overground (tube to Whitechapel or walk to Shoreditch /Hoxton) to Dalston Junction and then walk (c.10-15mins). [Thanks, Cal. I’m gonna take the bus. Wish me luck! – PB]

  3. This is where extroversion is so handy. I’d be all, “Who are these people and do I have to talk to them?” Especially with the stresses of traveling. It would probably take me a week to come out of my room. But then, I am a people person.

  7. me too – fashion tips are great – and I appreciate your c – omments about theology and religion generally – I am a 50 plus year UU who attends mostly Episcopal churches but who loves and cherishes many UU friends of many years standing

  8. Also not a professional minister. Also a lover of the blog. (Though I am a baptist lay-preacher, so the “what to wear so as not to look a total fright when down the front” discussions are a big help. Because lets face it, in general “baptist lay preacher” is not a phrase with many positive fashion associations, more like “man with bad comb-over in cheap and nasty brown suit”). Apologies in advance to any well-dressed male baptist lay preachers who may be reading this.

  9. Once again, a non-clergy, lay Episcopalian that loves reading anything you write. I often tell others about your Beauty Tips. As an Episcopalian I do not often see well dressed clergy because of their “uniform,” but know it can be done! Thoroughly enjoy your trip to the UK and we will enjoy reading about it.

  12. Also not serving in a ministerial capacity, but as a member of the professionally holy – I teach theology and ethics in a liberal arts university – I love what you’re doing!
