I just had to share this with my pigeons!
I was an INCREDIBLE frump today, so much so that I had to tell you.
The outfit I have on is one that, if I saw it on a colleague I would do a PeaceBang Double-Take of Horror.
I had no idea when I walked out the door that it was that bad, but it was that bad.
An Indian tunic-dress that was supposed to be hip/ethnic when I ordered it but turned out to be much bigger and more babydoll dress like than I expected (and also insanely unflattering to chubby meatball bodies). I can style it so it looks cool, but I didn’t today. I wore it with sort of capri length yoga pants, hideously frumpy Mary Janes (the kind I’m always tsk-tsking), socks, and a touch of make-up and lank hair.
The combined effect was Hung-Over Montessori Teacher or maybe Specialty Yarn Shoppe Owner On a Bad Hair Day. Whatever it was, it was certainly not a leadership look. It’s a good thing that I spent my morning at church with the Church Knitters, who understand, and the rest of the day in my home study.
However, I still deserve a time-out in the Naughty Corner. I’ll just be there knitting, darlings.

I was super-frumpy today, too!! I had a nice dress on (dark green velvet) but couldn’t find the matching wrap to it, so I just threw on a sweater that … yeah, DID NOT WORK. I didn’t really realize this until I was at our local diner for lunch. Le sigh.
I conquered Mount E-Mail today, though, so no one had to see this hideousness (except, of course, everyone at the diner…..).
oh ROFL! I just have to say that the ladies who run the Specialty Yarn Shoppe where I am employed are ALWAYS impeccably dressed. And they never fall into that bad knitterly habit of wearing too many of one’s own pieces at once, none of which match. I can’t say the same for myself, but your comment gave me such a tickle! [Oh my god, I owe them a cupcake! – PB]
Re: the chubby meatball body: I do wish you could love the fullness of your embodiment and cease the verbal attack on your own body. You did, however, remind me of how much I love meatballs. I think I’m changing my food plan for the week and making meatballs! [I LOVE meatballs! I love my body! You should see me on the dance floor! “Chubby meatball” sounds endearing to me, I swear! You should have heard me yell at a friend when she recently described herself as a fat pig, and another who lost a lot of weight who said she looked like a whale in her old photos… -I’m with you, babe! – PB]
Are those Alegria’s the frumpy Mary Janes? I need to know, because I was thinking about getting a pair!
[They are. I bought them because my lower back has been just awful and I heard that they could help. I have this pair and a pair of the clogs in bronze leather. They are comfortable and they CAN be super-frumpy but if you style them with care they don’t *have* to be, although I would never wear them in a place where I wanted to convey serious authority. – PB]
So, are you now fasting from frump in this Lenten season?
Although we have never met, I like the mental image of joyous dancing. So, how do live into a state of joyous dance in (or with?) creation?
Hee hee. Just a bit of a chuckle with the “Hung-Over Montessori Teacher” Love that image.
so glad you are knitting regularly! what’s on the needles?
