Beachy Waves Gone Bad

The “beachy waves” look is all the rage now, but it is notoriously hard to pull off unless you’ve got a professional stylist and don’t plan to leave the climate-controlled indoors.

I saw a photo of a 40-year old acquaintance on FaceBook recently that made me recoil. Her very thin, longish blonde hair was arranged in what I imagine she thinks looks sexy and wavy but in actuality looked bedraggled and dead. Since she wears no make-up and has pale eyelashes and eyebrows and very pale skin, the total effect was one of wan derangement. This is a gal who will spend hundreds of dollars on a cute cocktail dress or shoes, so I do not understand her refusal to adorn anything above the neck. She wore that pale gossamer look prettily in her 20’s, but those days are over. She needs an update, and badly, which would begin with cutting that straggly stuff OFF.

But anyhoo, darlings, as I am not her image consultant there’s nothing I can say. I am yours, however, so let me say this: if your beachy waves make you look like a Sea Witch, cut them off. Look here at supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Even HER beachy waves are a mess. Just goes to show, even the true goddesses of beauty can’t always carry it off.

Not so much beachy as seaweedy.

  1. Mee-ow! You will never convince your male readers that Gisele Bundchen looks bad.

And, remember, her job description is considerably different from yours.
[OH Chas, Chas, Chas, I KNOW. But her beachy waves have run amok. I know she’s still a goddess but it’s hard to find photos of real women with stringy beachy waves. A blogger has to make do, darling. – PB]
