Christmas Sparkly Fun

So at first I was like, “Oh, I know! I’ll wear that big chunky blingy hairband with a bun for Christmas Eve!”

And then I was like, “Oh my GOD, no. I totally look like a flapper.”

So then I was like, “I’ll just pull some of my hair back in a tasteful, small rhinestone clip and wear shiny make-up and those nice coin pearl earrings.” And that’s what I did.

[Done with both Christmas Eve services, psyched to be home.]

  1. You look fab!! I just now remembered that I forgot to put in my earrings tonight….ah well, I don’t think anyone noticed. (I was sparkly and made up and with my gorgeous pearl necklace. And great with child.)

  2. If you ever doubt for a moment how important the details of grooming and style are for persons in powerful speaking positions, watch this:

This is the Obama’s Christmas address. Rehearsed, orchestrated, and polished. They are both wonderfully dressed. Michelle’s dark blue dress is beautiful. But I defy you to watch this without an overwhelming urge to push her hair out of her right eye. When you can tear your gaze away from her super shiny lips, that is.

The words they say, of peace, love, and support for our troops and their families is wonderful. What a shame that I was so distracted visually that the message hardly came through…
    🙁
