No Flannel Pants, Ever!!!!!!

ARE THEY SUGGESTING THAT WE WEAR THESE IN PUBLIC!!!??

Ladies and gentlemen, flannel pants of any kind are for the privacy of your home. They are not for public appearances. They are not for the gym. They are PAJAMAS.

You may return to your post-church naps now.

  1. No. No. No.
She very obviously only donned the boots and outerwear to take the compost out before sliding the turkey in the oven. Gosh. I would not even wear those on Christmas morning, because someone will probably be taking some pictures.

  2. I hope it’s OK to wear them to get the newspaper from the mailbox, in the early hour of darkness.

  3. not me no but my daughter wore a similar pair with her down parka & ugg boots to go up to Whole Foods Market. It’s a college student/young adult style. [I KNOW, and I just want to make sure that it doesn’t become an ADULT STYLE. *stern face* – PB]

  4. Questionable evan for a post midnight dash to the WC in a state park campground. (If you tripped and fell, would you want the Ranger to find you dressed like that the next morning?)

  5. I once caught my brother running down to get takeout from a local restaurant in his blue flannel pajamas. I was there (appropriately dressed) with my husband for dinner. My brother lives up the street and basically considered it delivery minus the delivery charge… and therefore could show up in PJ’s. OY VEY!

  6. I’m sorry, even if high school/college students wear this in public, it’s not a “style”. It’s too damn lazy to put real clothes on. Seriously, sweatpants and sneakers are a step up. How hard is it to get dressed?!?

  7. My late mother told me that at her college in upstate NY in the early 1950’s they wore pajamas all day even when visiting boyfriends down the road at Cornell. She told me that eventually the dean got so tired of the PJs that she required skirt wearing at Sunday dinner. So it’s another fashion that has come back again.

  8. Sarah, hardly a fashion. More like a cultural sloppiness. We walk our dog every morning at a park next to an elementary school, and I never cease to be stunned at the Moms walking their kids to school in their pajamas (the Moms, not the kids). What kind of an example are they setting? As we say to our dog when we see them, “No, no no!”

  9. I live in a college area and all the college students are wearing this. To me this constitutes a fashion. In my area 30% of the population is between 18 and 32 and they are heavily into trends some general (ie Vogue and Style.com) and some more youth driven. Leggings with big sweaters, etc.
