Leg Warmers and Hippy Headband

For a day mostly spent writing. I am going to church for a bit, stopping in to help with the Holiday Fair, and interested in being comfortable and staying warm. Image: comfortable, autumnal country pastor with a touch of harvest fairy:

A lesson on seasonal light, kitty cats: I am actually wearing all kinds of make-up here, including a pinky blush. But look how ghastly pale I look, so washed out. This is because the autumn sun is weaker and casts more shadows. The light is less. I could obviously use a warming bronzer brushed lightly all over my face and much more blush, and a rosier lip color! And look at that hideous tabby cat hair! Very tacky and must be remedied at once. I had no idea until I took the photos how striped it had become. THAT’s why it’s not vain to take photos of yourself regularly, darlings. You get in better touch with how you really look. A mirror just can’t provide that much information.

By the way, feel free to mock the leg warmers. I pulled them up a little bit just for you:

hee hee hee! i’m taking them off RIGHT NOW! and putting on some suitable shoes!

  1. I’m embracing the idea that I am, as some Brits say, ‘pale and interesting’. I can wear very little makeup, and NOTHING around my eyes (without a fully-working blink, things get into your eyes that don’t get back out). And my hair has gone pewter (and somewhat striped, but I like it). So, a little bit of tinted moisturizer, blush, some sheer lip gloss. ‘Pale and interesting’. Well, at least it’s 50% true.

  2. Is that a dress or a skirt? I love it! Where’s it from, if I might ask? [It’s a dress that I bought for my cousin’s wedding. I think it’s a PERFECT example of the “try not to make people dizzy” print that I cautioned my pigeons against just a few weeks ago! I’m glad it didn’t give you a migraine. It’s not easy to find dresses in size 18/20 or 3X, man. I’m pretty sure I got it on super sale at Lord & Taylor’s. – PB]

  3. Hmm… the headband is really cute but I’d suggest having the legwarmers down a bit so they’re not cutting across the fullest part of the calf. (Said as someone who needs to be very careful with capri pant length and who never wears shoes with ankle straps!) [OH GIRL, I am seriously NOT even wearing those suckahs! But yes, you’re right. Problem is, I have short chubby legs and should never, ever wear visible leg warmers. The problem is that I will because they’re so cozy. – PB]

  4. Love the headband! I bought one that has similar feathers in a rosette pattern, but I can’t wear it because it interferes wtih my glasses. Hrumph.
