OOOh, boy, was PeaceBang getting down, down, down.
I made the mistake of spending a few hours catching up on the news last night and found myself drowning in evidence that the human race is making no moral progress whatsoever but is, in fact, becoming more and more pointlessly savage.
I felt my life force seep out of me, just all grief and depression. Despair.
There is a LOT to say about ministry in this era, my cookies, and I will say some of it later: things SURE are different than when I was ordained in the Clinton era. Either the mainline Protestant church is actually dying or God is breaking open the ministry into the wider world and we should not freak out that we’re less centered in church programming and more about commissioning and supporting the work of ministry in the world — the ministry of all believers.
I took almost a whole day off today. Well, I guess you can’t say that really because I spent three hours at the Apple store figuring out how to produce a podcast of our October 3rd worship service. But it was fun and I got out of the house. I shopped at Crate & Barrel and thought about Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and I food shopped. I came home and made a lovely dinner that is just now cooling on the stove.
I took a rejuvenating bath and read a cute book while I inhaled amazing peppermint and rosemary essence.
I will do some dissertating tonight and I will get to bed by 10:30. I will trust in God. I will believe that the living God lives and moves and urges us on, and that He will not forsake us.
Sometimes all you can do is hang on and take a bath in Dead Sea salts.
This is a lovely product, by the way.
