I know that not many of you have access to Portland, Maine (one of my new favorite cities in the U.S.) but if you do, please know that Soakology is a womb-like, deliciously fragrant, healing place like none other. You purchase your treatments upstairs and go downstairs to rest in a plush, comfortable chair up on a riser. A talented masseuse brings a huge ceramic tub of your chosen salts or soak and warm/hot water. You soak your tootsies in the tub (which is partially filled with smooth stones) and then enjoy a treatment. After my latest whoopdie-do with the Danskos (and my feet are better but still cramping on occasion) I am thrilled that I can go this weekend after church.
I have never left Soakology without feeling totally cared for, healed and ministered to. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Ditto on the extremely high recommendation! I can’t wait for my next visit in a few weeks….
Portland rocks! Next time you are there look for Two Notes in Old Port — it is a small guisness specializing in all natural, owner made perfumes, soaps, balms, etc. Fascinating owner, amazing fragrances.
OMG! Soakology is one of my very places in Portland, which is one of my favorite cities on the planet. The hubs and I have taken to making Portland our destination for quick weekend getaways–usually over the winter when hotel prices go down. On our last trip, we discovered Soakology….what an incredible, incredible place! And the prices were quite reasonable, we thought, and cheaper than most massages. I actually spoke to the manager and told her I thought they should open a location in Boston, and she said that idea was “definitely on the table.” Fingers crossed!
While we’re talking Portland, I have to put in a good word for my favorite restaurant on earth, Fore Street. World-class food + unpretentious vibe = heaven.
