Or else one of the two gentlemen standing at far right…
The woman fourth from the left
interesting, those are the only 3 people NOT in traditional clerical garb!
Back row, third from the left in the sunglasses.
CC, HEE HEE!
Yep, you got it. Fourth from the left. I love it. She is a laywoman so that’s part of it, but the other part of it is kind of obvs.
Really? I’d have guessed the gentleman in the top row 5th from right in the full veil with the well-shaped beard and the fetching sunglasses. You think he thought to shape that beard without any guidance? I bet he read that facial article of yours and said, “That’s right. Time to trim my topiary. For I am going to re-pre-sent for Jesus. Amen, suckers.”
That’s my theory, anyway. 🙂
But lady #4 looks very nice and has lovely hair.
I was there! I remember that photo being taken. I wish I’d know there was another BTFM reader there – we could have had some interesting discussions about headwear….
RevRuth, you must be thinking of another meeting! There were really only the two of us women at this one and this is the full set of participants! Talk about a wardrobe challenge with all of the clerics in cassocks for the whole meeting. I’ve learned the value of having good quality suits….and I tried to teach the others the value of finding a good drycleaner for their cassocks by the end of the week.
Must be thinking of another one – sorry; I was thinking of a WCC meeting, and the scenery looked just like that, and there were all these people in “fancy dress” -which for a good UK Baptist really needed guide-book! I hope you managed to convince them of the need for a good dry-cleaner. But there is something to be said for not having to think about what to wear….nah, maybe not! I like the freedom!
Well I go to a lot of WCC meetings too! This meeting was ironically in the same location as the most recent WCC meeting I attended. We might have met and don’t realize it! I shall look for (well dressed) UK Baptists wherever I go next.
The young woman standing fourth in from the left?
