Crocs Aren’t Kosher

Thanks to Scott Wells for the following link, where the Jewish community (my people on my Dad’s side) agrees with me that Crocs are Hideous and inappropriate for respectable people to wear on any occasion upon which human dignity should be on display.

That was a breathless run-on, but y’all know how I feel about Crocs.

Read it here.

Right on, Rabbis!

  1. Did you catch that one of those pics was of George W Bush in Crocs? Does that mean he wasn’t kosher? I have still never worn Crocs. The worst thing is when people on tv wear them – they look awful! Like giant plastic shoes!

  2. I also have never worn Crocs. I think that they look absolutely awful. When I first saw them, I could not figure out why anyone (but particularly adults) would wear an ugly plastic shoe. I still ask myself that question.

  3. Crocs are ugly. No question. Ridicules idea to wear them as officiant foot covering – unacceptable – I totally agree. But this guy wants to ban them because they are comfortable! That’s dopey.. Ban them because they are ugly and make it look like you have cartoon character’s feet instead of a human foot.

  4. I had a pair at the back porch for quick trips to take out the garbage, etc. but one of the beagles (and I know which one) chewed them up. So, there are other places in which they are inappropriate.

  5. I agree the traditional Crocs are clown shoes but…have you ever tried a pair of the sandals? Heaven! I forgot my shower shoes on a recent camping trip and picked up a pair of Croc sandals. I ended up wearing them for the rest of the trip.

  6. I confess. I own a pair of Crocs. They are for grubbing in the garden. When I go camping, they are my shower shoes. Mea minima culpa. [I have some too1 I wear them to walk the dog, etc. – PB]

  7. I had never HEARD of crocs until I read a rant long ago on this blog. So the unintended consequence of all that effusion about Crocs was that I picked up a pair at the original store when I was in Boulder. They are not nirvana to my feet, but I do have them by the back door to slip on when I go into the yard. I got tired of having to clean my shoes when I come inside from a quick step into the yard. These things can go in the laundry if they are really muddy.
