Hello, Poodles!!
I will be in Nicaragua for the next three weeks or so, learning Spanish and resting. Let me tell you my favorite joke about resting:
So, a woman opens her refrigerator to find a mouse brazenly lounging on her butter dish. She is appalled and says to the mouse, “What are you doing in my refrigerator!!?”
The mouse says to her, “Is this a Westinghouse?”
And the woman replies, “Why yes, it is.”
And the mouse says, “Well, I’m westing!”
My grandfather was the best teller of that joke, may he rest in peace.
Get some good questions ready for me while I’m away, because a minister on sabbatical does not have these things so much on her mind!
I will tell you that I recently led a workshop for 35 people on Nurturing a Ministry of Activism wearing a red and grey floral print dress, a denim jacket, a cowboy hat and the biggest, baddest Harley Davidson boots you could ever hope to find for $30 on 6th Avenue (old Route 66) in Amarillo, Texas. Those boots have maybe a three inch wedge and fit tight at the ankles. They weigh about 100 lbs. each and I just felt like “warin’ em.” I explained the hat by saying I was having a bad hair day, and everyone gave permission.
I’m just so tired, y’all. Dressing a bit wild is a great way to give yourself a bit of energy. Go ahead. Break on out.
Kiss of peace to you all this midwinter. Take good care and we’ll talk soon.
xoxox *MWAH!* PB

Have a wonderful, fun, westfull time, PB! I’m thinking of a good question…hmmm…
was watching a cooking show last week, and when making pasta from scratch, one must allow the dough to rest. That is how it becomes elastic and workable. We need to “west” too, so God can help us to be more elastic and workable–for God.
Hugs, PB, have a wonderful time.
PB, enjoy this sacred space and time and may the refreshment and renewal be an energizer for soul and body. Vaya con Dios!
I need to make a stole for our former intern ministers ordination. There is lots of info about other faiths stoles but not UU stoles. How long are they usually ? How wide ? What color ? How about the part that will go under his collar- some stoles look like they are all the same width the entire length of the stole while others taper. Any thoughts ?
Thanks
My Dear Peebs –
As I watched President Obama’s {still a thrill to just say that} speech to Congress the other night, and spied Nancy Pelosi’s er, get-up, I couldn’t help missing my Beauty Tips. For surely you would have had something to say. She wore a pea-green matching jacket and skirt. The color made her look about as ill as it would me. There were strings hanging from the crew(?) neck, and it had wide, loose sleeves. It was made of some sort of nubbly or terry-like fabric. It looked like a.. a sweat suit.
I wept in grief for the sharp, well-defined professional woman’s image she sported but a short time ago…
