She Was Feeling Tight

Psalmist has a product endorsement and I didn’t want it to get buried in the comments, so here it is:

Could I do a quick product endorsement, based on your aside about “constricting undergarments,” PB? I keep riding that misses’ petite/woman petite divide, and I’m on the misses’ side right now. Just had an interview and tried a Hanes No Hose shaper product, because the shell of the three-piece outfit was a fairly snug thing and I wanted the trousers to look smooth. Perfection! The style I used was one of those top-of-the-bra to mid-thigh ones. It is the ONLY thing I’ve tried that stayed put on the top.

I suspect Spanx has something similar, but not for the $7 Steinmart price tag. Best money I’ve spent in a long time. This over-40 looked GOOD today.

Girl, you can just HAVE those stupid, overpriced Spanx that rip the minute you try to pull them on over your chub. I am so glad to hear of an affordable alternative! But I’m a little confused as to the garment you reference: was it a long-line bra or a shaping brief with thigh coverage that went all the way up the torso? Inquiring minds want to know, and thanks for the shout-out.

  1. Hey, my Spanx work great! (knock on wood). I actually managed to scrape my leg (to the point that it bled) and the Spanx hosiery didn’t snag at all. But they are pricey. ($20). Still keeping fingers crossed.

  2. Oh, the only thing I have against Spanx is the price, which is such that I’ve never bought any. I have bought other products that I thought would be more “permanent,” and they’ve let me down in more ways than one.

  3. I love Spanx, and I have the Hanes version too…all good. Mine have never broken, I have washed and worn them again and again and again. But I defintely break a sweat getting them on!
