Rev. Bee Was On A Mission…

… and not the kind you think.
She was on a mission to find a good computer bag — remember how much trouble we were having finding any affordable, professional-looking ones a few weeks ago and wringing our hands in frustration?

Bee writes in,

Oooo- in my search for the Perfect Career Girl Going On A Business Trip Bag that’ll make me look sleek and pulled together in the airport, be roomy enough for my mac, plus the standard book-and-bottled water, and perhaps even be enough to haul to the conference, I happened upon the following site:

www.careerbags.com

Specializes in bags that women can carry. I’m checking it out, but have already seen a few things that I would think a clergy girl can carry without looking stoopid or juvenile.

Ever heard of them?

Cheerio!

B

I hadn’t heard of them, but I spent a moment cruising the sight and I think there are some good, affordable choices in there. Men, what are you carrying in 2008? Because you’re throwing out those beat-up canvass bags and torn up mesh things you’ve been dragging around since seminary, right?

  1. I’m looking for a bag that will do double duty (carry laptop and weekend trip/train carry-on bag). If anyone has suggestions, I’ll be happy to hear them.

  2. I’m in seminary and I recently bought a canvass bag to carry my books in (this is in addition to carrying my laptop). I assure you I’ll replace it with something more professional once I enter ministry. 🙂

  3. As I told PB, I found a review site: http://www.squidoo.com/laptopbag which reviews in exhaustive detail.

I also was looking for a carryon type thing. I wanted something I could get for the carry on part (stick under the seat, carry comfortably, stand in line for hours), since I would have a suitcase or small duffel bag for my luggage. (Thanks to all the banned items now!)

For the Seminarian, in my second round of grad school, I got a Timbuktu, and WISHED I had had it all through Seminary. I think I destroyed about three bags during my three years. My TB2 hasn’t got a scratch despite SERIOUS abuse. Give them a look and ebay like crazy. They are worth it for your student days.

Just make sure you do REPLACE it with something… I’m three years in, and just doing my first ‘professional bag shop’. 🙂

Rev Bee, the obsessed and second-guessing.

  4. Trader Joe’s now has a wide variety of bags. In addition to the canvas classic, there is now Hibiscus PVC, thermal and a zip top in black. Washable, low key and appropriate for just about any occasion.

    😉

  5. I found a fabulous bag at Sears. I don’t remember the designer but it was called the Ultimate Work Tote. It’s a large leather-looking bag shaped like a big plain rectangle with longish straps. The inside has a document pocket, a laptop sleeve, a cell phone snap-in pocket, a pocket for lipstick and pens and things, and plenty of room for books. It was originally $40 but on sale for $24. I bought one in brown and one in black and use them for church.
