People We Love

Thanks to ChaliceChick for alerting me to this lovely little article on the nice people over at Zappos, an on-line mega shoe store.

Cripes, that’s nice. Given all the nightmare stories we hear about customer service (like my hideous experiences with Dell, which should get a goiter on its neck the size of my Aunt Rivka’s rear end) it’s nice to get some good news once in awhile.

The extra honey-headed thing about this is that I feel like someone just sent flowers to this grieving gal and didn’t assume that it would become a big news story and get them tons of extra publicity. Zappos has long had a great reputation for customer service, and apparently well-earned.

  1. I’m a big fan of Zappos and have bought shoes from them for years. My boyfriend recently ordered a pair of expensive workboots from them, and unfortunately the box was stolen from our porch. When we called to report the problem they sympathized with the annoyance of the missing package, immediately sent a replacement pair at no extra charge, and contacted UPS to investigate the issue. This story just cements my love.

  2. I LOVE the people at zappos. Were I not already married very happily, I’d marry all of them at once.

My UPS carrier–I’m not kidding–put a delivery in the trash container at the curb. Supposedly he put a note on the trash can, BUT IT WAS RAINING. He did this because of the neighbors’ dog, who has been there for 14 years and is so far as I know all bark and not much bite. Anyway, they were absolute dolls about the whole thing and seemed to find it as funny as I did.
