Joys and Concerns, Blog Version

“Hi, my name is PeaceBang and I would like to share with the congregation the concern that I got these really cute shoes from Payless for $15 last year, and I thought they’d be comfortable because they’re wedges, but my feet are already killing me and I’m going to wind up limping home at 1:30 pm. And now I’m going to have to give these shoes to Kaji because they’re really, really cute and someone needs to appreciate them.

Thanks. It means a lot for me to be able to share that with the Beloved Community.

Also, I have a joy. I was on NPR yesterday . Thanks for caring.”

  1. I was cleaning up my bedroom this weekend and heard the cool NPR piece. Great to hear your voice and the piece was pretty well done I thought. Thanks for the kick to have us all looking our best.

  2. Oh, the NPR thing was delicious (I confess, I only listened to the outtakes, and LOVED them). Congratulations. Maybe more pastors will be better dressed (including me!).

  3. Peacebang! That could have been my concern at yesterday’s service, too! My feet were killing me in these cute black boots I got at Payless’s fall boot sale last year. After leading the two services I hobbled out to the car and couldn’t wait to come home and peel the blessed things off of me.

(But people in the church had MUCH bigger, more pressing, and more serious concerns than that, so I refrained from lighting anything but the chalice.)

  4. Sarah, I just sucked it up and purchased a pair of Aerosole brown boots (yay Filene’s Basement!) and a pair of new black pumps (from Indigo by Clarks) that have *really* good support and they’re going to be my church shoes. It set me back $150 but you know what? I just can’t do my day in cheap cute shoes any more. Too old, too fat.
So darling, do what you have to do. I think a Sunday shoe, if it has a heel at all, HAS to have good support. No more scrawny little heels for this meatball — too hard on the knees.
