Election Edition

Let’s gather ’round the campfire, kids. Auntie PeaceBang wants to tell you some stuff.
These are challenging times so I gave you a whole sermon here. Make a nice cup of something and I won’t judge you at all if you add a shot of bourbon to it.
We are having a community gathering at my church for the election returns — to network and plan for what’s next in local social justice initiatives — and I told people that there won’t be booze but I won’t see any flasks that happen to come out.
Seriously though? All our addictions are prone to flare up under this kind of communal anxiety, so please be careful. Get the support you need lined up now. Get it lined up yesterday. Me, I just keep going to Sephora and eating popcorn.

If this supports or ministers to you in any tiny way then I’m glad I posted it. Let me know. Kiss of peace. MWAH.

  1. Like Emory I think I needed this too – God is at work ion this world too. Even as a believer I look at the shit storm that’s going on throughout the world and I forget that – somehow – He has his hand on it all. Thank youi for the reminder. And I’m leadiung prayers tomorrow – silence will reign!! May God hold us all in the palm of his hand.

  2. You had me at “We don’t have to preach the brilliant pre- and post-election sermons. We’re in it with everyone else.” And yet, we do have to bring our training and our faith and make our contribution to help. I’m grateful that a colleague could come and preach last Sunday. She was wonderful, spoke in such a friendly, hopeful way. She herself was struggling with the run-up to the election and still brought her best, which was more than enough.
