Just remember that a black turtleneck highlights everything about you- it’s kind of like wearing your head on a stick. Do the hair. Do the face. Wipe out circles under the eyes. If your skin is ebony, some shimmer on the eyes is beautifully illuminating of that key feature. All skin tones might experiment with some dramatic lippy.

Here’s a lot of glamorous people (mostly white ladies) rocking the black Tneck. Snoop Dogg doesn’t look too put-together here, but he’s SNOOP. None of us can get away with that.
You MUST not wear your black turtleneck if you have dandruff or wild, woolly unwashed hair. Because yuck. That’s not the kind of head we want to see on a glamour stick.
You should PLEASE NOT pair your black turtleneck with a bolo tie (dudes) or a big Wooden Religious Symbol or Ceramic Jewelry Craft Project, because 1973 is over.
You should please not wear a black turtleneck with a greasy comb-over or ponytail.
You should please not wear a black turtleneck under a JUMPER OH MY GOD THAT’S NOT WHAT I MEANT BY ENCOURAGING TURTLENECKS OF ANY KIND.

Would you suggest wearing any kind of necklace with the black turtleneck, or just wear it plain? [I think plain is more striking. Because a black turtleneck is all about giving face. Don’t draw the eye down. – PB]
I love black turtlenecks. I usually have three or four including a dress. I do tend to use them as a canvass with a significant – not necessarily big – piece of jewelry. I agree with you in thinking that they look good on everyone. I love men in turtlenecks. I just love turtlenecks. My Philly uniform was a suit and a turtle. I’m partial to the ribbed ones to give subtle vertical lines since I’m so abundantly and fabulously blessed with curves. [AND you always serve up fab face. – PB]
I’ve always struggled to pull off turtlenecks due to a short neck and abundant bosom. Any styling tips?
I’m right there with you, sister. I look for longer mocknecks, which are hard to find but they’re out there some seasons. I have two long, sleeveless mocknecks that hit me at the hip and I wear them with V-neck cardigans, which brings the eye down a bit and elongates everything. It’s a very pretty look and I count on those two in the winter.
I also find that infinity scarves often don’t work for me for the same reason – big bosom and short neck. – PB
