Just Breathe

Hi, kids!
I am so sorry to have neglected you of late. I am dragging myself to the finish line of my first year with a new congregation and although I am happy and grateful for change and new opportunities and a cool community, I’m jest plum tuckered out. All the newness.

One thing I figured out in a huge DUH moment last week is that the traffic in my new region (just north of Boston in a city instead of in the rural suburbs of Boston’s South Shore) is way, way worse than I’m used to. So while I have it in my brain that I can get 4-5 miles in 10 minutes, that bears no resemblance to reality as I currently experience it. I’m kind of a slow learner sometimes.

My plantars fascitis has cleared up, although I’m still careful and still rolling and stretching out my foots every day. I have a secondary physical ailment from the plantars (I presume), which has caused me a lot of suffering. No jokes or light-heartedness about it. My left leg aches and throbs at night and ruins my sleep. I’m working on it with a massage therapist and it is definitely getting better, but I have had to really stop and take the necessary time to stretch several times a day. I realized about two weeks ago that I wasn’t breathing. You may find that you, too, stop breathing from time to time and have to make a renewed effort to fill your lungs. I found that I was pretty much holding my breath any time I concentated, which is often, and almost always when I’m writing. This was making me feel about 106 years old, so about ten days ago I re-ordered and re-prioritized my schedule so that I could start the day with breathing and get in a nice walk every day. EVERY. DAY.

Sorry no fun posts about fashion or shoes or make-up right now. I have no idea what I’m going to wear for church when we get into hot summer, but it concerns me some.

My skin is a mess but I am still testing SPF products and BB and CC creams. I am wearing a CC cream by Sephora today (I got a sample) and I do not like it. It made me very shiny and oily.

I will be making a short video on how to blend under-eye concealer so that you don’t wipe off all the product, isn’t that something to live for!?

And speaking of something to live for, “MALEFICENT!!!” I RAN out to see it on Saturday morning and had a religious experience, I really did. I have loved Maleficent as a character since I was a little girl, and I LOVED this imaginative telling of her backstory. And Angelina Jolie is EVERYTHING. She is the MOST. I gush!

MALEFICENT

  1. Sorry to hear about your tuckering. I’m not that badly off, but pretty tired too. I’ve got a couple of days coming up soon after a particularly big event and I’m really looking forward to booking a massage and a facial as a treat.

As for the Angelina movie, sounds like I’ll have to give it a go. I am a fan of hers, particularly after hearing that she took on the lead role in ‘Salt’ as it was written for a male character and just made it her own.
