I’m clean! My hair is shampooed! I could just put on my blazer and go, right? “I’m beautiful just the way I am!!!”
Honey, please. That is not a face that’s ready for prime time. That is not my public face. That is a perfectly fine face and with some more sleep and a more flattering hairstyle, it’s not a face I think I need to hide from the world. But it is not polished and professional.
Ten minutes later I am ready to face the world and the community and am shined up enough to communicate that I am honored to be with them:
You may notice that I am wearing pointy shoes. I was also wearing pointy readers (keyword search under “Accessories” if you want to see them), causing my colleague and co-presenter Ian to say, “Wow, you’ve got pointy shoes and pointy glasses” to which I replied, “Indeed! I am obviously trying to MAKE A POINT!”
It was a wonderful event and a thrill to have my work on covenant so warmly and appreciatively received. Maybe I’ll get that dissertation published yet.
