Honestly? This woman is 67 years old. Study.
What would it take to get you to radiate that kind of personal power, charisma and self-knowing beauty?
Ain’t she something?

Because you're in the public eye, and God knows you need to look good.

fabulous – made my whole evening – just looking at her made my spirit soar
Wow. I suppose I can aspire to those cheekbones! That is fabulous. (Also looks like she really took care of her skin and kept out of the sunburns.)
Great post!
Also Chita Rivera, who is 80 and amazing. Saw her do fan kicks wearing 4 inch heels in 2008!

Wow, she’s really pulled herself together. A decade ago she was kind of a mess — I remember a co-worker went to a Blondie concert and reported that she wore a velour tracksuit and looked every bit her age. Looks like she’s since got herself a stylist and a personal trainer.
OMG She looks awful. Much too thin. I’m 67 and I wouldn’t aspire to look like her.
I’m with Rebekah. I think she looks terrible. Ghastly overdone makeup, obviously colored hair in a very unsuitable (for her age) hairdo, the lipstick is awful! And never smiling. What is with people who think they look glamorous by not smiling, when in fact they look foreboding? [She’s FIERCE! She’s projecting FIERCE rock and roll realness! – PB]
I think she looks great! She has some flesh on her arms & legs–not too skinny in my book. I have thinner friends that age who look great too.
What would it take to make me look like that? Well…a lot of plastic surgery. I agree that she has Presence, it’s just maybe not the kind that I would want to have for myself. like this kind better: http://www.ted.com/speakers/jane_goodall.html
Oh dear. She has been cut, pulled and injected to within an inch of her life. She looks ghastly and fake and utterly plastic.
I had some of the same thoughts: Deborah Harry has cheekbones that will be gorgeous ’til the day she dies; she looks like she’s had plastic surgery or just lots of airbrushing; that “nothing will make me smile” style that’s so popular in fashion photography doesn’t do much for me; and we should all wrinkle gracefully (Jane Goodall IS a good example. What beautiful lines on her face). But that’s not what you asked, PB. You asked us about how to convey our personal power, charisma and self-knowing beauty, and you pointed out her fierceness, glamor, attitude, and image.
I have long favored a baggier look and tend to go for browns/neutrals/blacks, and those can look very professional and stylish. However, I’ve made a pledge to myself recently: when I’ve reached the weight I’m aiming for,* I’m going to buy myself some new clothes, and I am going to force myself to buy bold colors and tailored tops. I love the way they look on other people, and thanks in part to you, I’ve realized that I shy away from these styles for myself and started to ask WHY? There’s no good reason. I’m filled with glee at the idea of claiming my place with flair. Thank you, and how I wish I could bring you shopping with me.
*Not to imply that one can’t be chunky and look great in these styles. I just don’t want to spend the money on clothes I hope will soon not fit.
