Oxfords

Gals, you’re in luck if you hate heels. Oxfords are all the rage lately. They’re comfy and fashionable. Here are some ideas for styling.

I’m have a few pairs myself, and adore them:

I found these vintage Fluevogs on e-bay and have been wearing them all the time this fall with trousers, a white blouse, cardigan and scarf.

It’s against my religion to wear sneakers in public. These are as comfy as it gets without resorting to athletic shoes. The soles are primo. Any flats I wear have to have some sort of bulk to them or else my feet look too tiny to hold up my meatball bod. Proportion, darlings!

  1. Once again I am reminded how utterly shoe-clueless I am. I saw oxfords all over the place when browsing for a fall casual shoe last weekend and thought, “How frumpy. Auntie Peacebang would not approve.” Lo and behold – you do.” Are there guidelines that can be learned so I can distinguish frump from stylish? Or is it something you’re gifted with?

  2. Love, love, love the oxford. I am looking for one with a teeny, tiny heel like the “Charlie Browns” I wore in high school. But I’m pretty fond of the pair in the new Clark’s catalogue, too.

  3. I love oxfords and have just started doing them with long dresses/skirts. I think/hope it works in a zen minimalist, quakerly kind of way!
