I love how every few minutes something NEW comes along in the beauty world, something you just MUST try. The overly made-up gals at Sephora always claim they use whatever product it is themselves, and that doing so has brought about tremendous benefits to their skin or lips or whatever.
Of course it’s mostly sheer nonsense, but it’s fun. Don’t let it scare you away from the make-up counter. Just smile a mysterious, “I know you’re full of 100% kosher baloney but I’m too nice to say anything” and ask the clerk to show you what you came to shop for. Consider it entertainment, a little show. Cosmetic companies are pushing dreams and fantasies just as hard as they’re peddling face cream. Don’t take it personally, and don’t let it freak you out.
Anyway, the new rage is ARGAN OIL, which is apparently from Morocco and has been used for centuries to make Moroccan women’s skin as soft as a baby’s butt, and all that hooey. The thing is, however, it is a wonderful product and it really does work. My African-American friends swear by it for their hair and skin, and I have been loving this tinted moisturizer by Josie Maran:
I have fair skin and I find that this is a thick, emollient formula that offers just as much coverage as a foundation but with great sun protection as well. I put a small dollop on my hand and apply it all over my face with my fingers, feathering and blending as I go. It’s so moisturizing that I do have to blot it, but that’s no big deal, as I pick up blotting papers from E.L.F. at Targer for one sweet dollar.

I turned to Josie Maran when my beloved Greek company Korres — another organic make-up line– stopped making Wild Rose Foundation. I am pretty committed to wearing organic products on my face. I find it challenging to find an SPF product that doesn’t make me look like I have a shiny film on my face (I hate Neutrogena, please don’t recommend them to me! I do have some Aveeno and Skinceuticals SPF products that I like, and you can check the archives under “make up and skin care +product reviews” to read other recommendations).
I’m also a huge fan of Josie Maran Bear Naked Facial Wipes, which are my go-to travel cleansers. They are gentle, effective, and the smell makes me really happy when I’m in a hotel room wishing I was home:

This is to let you know that I’ve mentioned you on my Blog, as part of my being awarded a “Versatile Blogger†award. I know that many bloggers don’t do awards, and I can appreciate why…but I’d still like to acknowledge the fact that your blog is one that I visit regularly and enjoy reading. It has also helped me to consider (and reconsider!) my personal style. Thank you for that.
