One of you alert pigeons wrote in the comments a few weeks ago that yoga pants are inappropriate professional wear.
You. Are. RIGHT!*
I confess to wearing them at times, however, and it’s awful. The reason is that I have fairly slim legs in proportion to my torso and pants that fit me around the waist tend to SWIM on my legs. It is therefore well nigh impossible to find pants that fit, and yoga pants have a good deal of shape and stretch to them and I can walk without feeling like I have pup tent-encased thighs.
I HATE TRYING TO FIND PANTS! I wish I was Madonna, who can wear these amazingly high-waisted black pants and look perfectly svelte and gorgeous even though she works out about 11 hours a day and I work out about 11 minutes a week, but STILL.
So anyway, alert pigeon, thank you for your rightful critique of those who wear yoga pants like they was real, legit pants, because they ain’t. They’re athletic wear and belong in the gym and doing errands. Please know that when I do wear them, I wear them with a very long tunic or jacket. I encourage other clergy gals to do the same.

You caught me! Today is the first day EVER that I have worn yoga pants to work and I sit here at my computer feeling like I was caught with my hand in the cookie jar. I am wearing them with a long belted tunic and with 4″ black suede pointy-toed booties. I confess to being incredibly comfortable and, surprisingly, professional looking. These particular yoga pants are a heavy organic cotton with a slight flare at the ankle. They actually do look like good trousers–and they SHOULD because I paid a lot for them. Miss Conduct, I got them at Athleta (athleta.com). Their clothing varies in quality but their work-out wear is usually very good. [I think that’s fine. High quality yoga pants with a tunic and pointy-toed booties sounds perfectly lovely. Rock on. – PB]

Madonna isn’t Madonna. She is photo-shopped within an inch of her life. Have you seen her au naturale pix?

Madonna probably had hers tailor-made. Don’t let it make you feel as though you are less awesome.
That said, where does one get a good pair of yoga pants for gym and errands? I’ve been realizing lately that they’d be perfect for my at-home writing-and-dogwalking days.

Dear Rev Dr Will, thanks so much for the Madonna links- I hadn’t thought she really looked that good but now I know and dont have to feel bad that I don’t look the same
