I wore this outfit today to a meeting at Harvard Div School, a place that always makes me stupidly happy. My years there were the greatest love affair I’ve ever had, and the most satisfying. HDS is the institutional equivalent of the perfect man that you have the most rapturous relationship with, and it ends because it has to end and although your heart gets broken, he’s still a great friend and super supportive and always gorgeous when you see him. Even though you know he has flaws and some really nasty qualities, he’s just an eternal dreamboat. Brilliant, funny, charismatic, challenging, talented…. and on and on and on.
So anyway, I wore a basic blazer and a print shirt with turquoise beads (two different necklaces). I threw on the headband later in the afternoon and I sort of liked the way it looked with everything. I like combining classic (blazer, dark jeans, boots) with ethnic (the print shirt, the headband, the beads). The point is, I tend to forget outfit combinations that I enjoy and that work for various occasions and I’m trying to record them with a quick photo. It’s nice to have a little help on hand when you’re tapped out creatively and trying to come up with a look for something.

I do that! And then I categorize the photos by occasion (i.e. interview/presentation versus date night versus travel — that kind of thing).
I call the whole file ‘winner outfits,’ because I only record combinations that make me feel like a million bucks.
This file has been a lifesaver for occasions when I feel like 2 cents.
*looks around, whispers* I also keep packing lists for trips I make frequently. Saves a huge amount of time, and I know everything goes together and will travel well.
I just found some beautiful hair accessories and fascinators on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/boutiquedebandeaux
[Oh my God, and you’re getting me the autumn flowers fascinator as a graduation gift, right!?? 😉 – PB]
