It is always a sad day when the weather turns chillier and I get all blotchy and need to wear foundation. I really believe that there is almost never a need to cover the entire face with make-up — it’s very aging and wipes out a lot of vibrancy from the face. I am regularly horrified by how many women I see with bad orangey faces or with powdery foundation settling in the creases. Yikes! Maybe today is the day to play with the computer and see if I can make a little how-to video, which I’ve been wanting to try for a long time.
At ANY RATE, darlings, PeaceBang is a fan of the Korres make-up line. It’s from Greece and it’s all organicky natural save the whales, etc. and it has polymer light refracting magickal faiery dust free radical fighting powers and whatever else the sorcerers who create this stuff can manage to come up with to make up buy it.
I mean, please. Can it solve WORLD HUNGER?
I do like that this has SPF in it, but as Auntie PB has told you before, don’t count on SPF in your make-up to protect your skin. ALWAYS use a moisturizer with SPF in it in addition.
Applied with a foundation brush, I love this Korres product because it’s light, it blends beautifully, it comes in tons of shades (although I’m not sure if they’re doing due diligence by our women of color), it doesn’t smell like anything but clean prettiness, it lasts and it really doesn’t look like you’re made up when you’ve got it on. It provides more coverage than the tinted moisturizer I use in the summer months and best of all, it doubles as an under-eye circle concealer when you don’t have time for that extra step (and really, cupcakes, who DOES on a regular basis?).
What? You don’t have to put foundation on your whole face? Please elaborate! (if that’s what the video is about, it’s not working on my end.)
Since we started doing video at my church I’ve had to start wearing more makeup and I hate the foundation above all…make a beeline to the sink the moment I get home Sunday afternoon. It doesn’t exactly itch, but I never forget it’s there. So…the less the better!
And while we’re on my problems, I used to use a gel blush from Mary Kay and when I finally used it all up, I found that nobody makes gel blush any more. I’ve tried a powder and can’t control it the way I want to. I’ve tried a cream and it looks chalky to me and a product about the consistency of foundation that’s supposed to change color…but it doesn’t. Any thoughts? Please don’t tell me to go to a department store and sit around with people staring at me….won’t happen. Why does the makeup industry assume that people who want to buy make up are all raging extroverts?

I find that mixing my liquid foundation with moisturizer (at about a 1 to 2 ratio) and applying it with a makeup sponge works really well. It’s not too heavy, it covers enough and blends well at the hairline and chin. It also avoids the seepage into the wrinkles…
I find that using foundation primer also works well to prevent my makeup from settling into the lines on my face. FWIW, yes, I use primer–and I don’t wear any makeup most days, and have only recently returned to wearing makeup after a couple of decades of going bare-faced all the time.
What I’m trying to communicate is that foundation primer is not only for product junkies.
