Strange Attractor Reviews Stila Face Powder (Bronzer)

Oooh, how fun when one of my pigeons writes a fantastic product review and sends it to me in the form of a letter! Then I can just ask her permission to cut and paste and share it with you!
Margot sez,

Here are the confessions of a former bronzer-phobe. I wanted to recommend a beauty product to you that totally changed the way I view bronzer for fair-skinned women: Stila Illuminating Face Powder in Rose Gold

When I tell you I am pale, I mean I am pale. Every bronzer I tried made my face look dirty instead of tan. Since I am pretty happy with being so fair, I quite trying to look tan years ago. I mean, nobody looks at Anne Hathaway and says, “if only she spent a few days in the sun”.

I ended up getting a great deal on a bronzer set from Stila and I decided to try it based on your recommendation that even fair girls need some glow. Oh, Peacebang, you were right. [Of COURSE I was, darling!! – PB] This stuff is great. I don’t look dirty-faced, or orange, or even tan when I wear this; my face is just a little bit warmed up and better defined. As it sounds, this is a pinkish golden-honey color that would work of a variety of fair skin tones. It has quite a bit of shimmer to it, which I love, but may not be everyone’s cup of tea. My skin is one of my best features so I never wear foundation, just concealer, the Stila bronzer topped with a pop of Nars Orgasm cream blush on the apples of my cheeks [Fabulous! I didn’t know that Nars Orgasm came in a cream formula! I wear the powder version.- PB] My skin just looks better rather than “made up”.

The product came with the same product in a beautiful darker color called Bronze. It is described as a “copper with golden shimmer”. It is quite pretty, but too dark for me to use for anything other than contouring, but I think it would be a great bronzer for those with medium skin and even a lovely sheer blush for women with dark skin.

Neither of these products is sold on Sephora’s website anymore (hence my great deal), but I found Rose Gold at allcosmeticswholesale.com and both of them at other places around the web.

On another note, I appreciate all that you do and you should be seeing a drop in your PayPal bucket soon. I cannot overestimate how much your Peacebang blog contributed to me finding Unitarian Universalism and a religious home. Thank you.

Fabulously yours,

Margot, Strange Attractor

Margot, you are a shimmering, glowing star in the ministerial universe!!*

  1. I love your blog, all the fashion advice and also all the showbiz references. But there’s one quibble: the quote is “shimmering, glowing star in the cinema firmament”. (Which sent me running to the dictionary to look up “firmament” the first time I heard it.) [Oh my GOD!! How could I have typed that WRONG!!? I have been doing my best Lena Lamont imitation with that line and cracking up college friends with it for 25 years!! Thanks heavens you wrote in to correct me. Cinema FIRMA-MINT, indeed (as Lena would pronounce it). – PB]
