Eggplant, Our Color Du Jour

I just think this is my favorite new neutral. I think it looks rich and fabulous and so great with many skin tones. Guys, this would be a great color for a tie. You could rock it out with a charcoal or black or brown sports jacket.

That’s a little too SHINY PURPLE for me.

But this is wicked handsome:

Here’s a nice light-weight coat by Larry Levine. I LOVE the cassock-like cut on it. Not for dumpling shapes like mine, but a tall slimmy could wear the hell out of this.

  1. Eggplant as a neutral? [Yea, maybe that was a bit too enthusiastic. – PB] Great colour though, I’m all for colour. People wear far too much black in New Zealand…

    Cheers,

  2. One of my favorite colors. For a while there I kept finding things in that color, saying, “Ooh, I really need something in that gorgeous eggplant!” and then bringing it home to discover that I already had two items in that exact color. (Then three, then four . . . ) I just love it.

Odd name, really, since most eggplants are black.

  3. I’m wearing a brownish-eggplant (raisin?) today that is very neutral. It has been one of my two new colors this year.

I am wearing it with olive green, an amber necklace and dark navy jeans. Strange combination, but it works.
