“Merci” From Natalie

I wrote to you about a year ago with a question about making a stole for my Godfather, who is an Episcopal Priest, and who will be performing my marriage ceremony. I just want to THANK YOU for posting my query on your blog, I read the comments, took everything that was written into consideration and worked for over one year to the embroider the stole.
I really appreciate everybody’s comments, It would have not been possible without the “inside scoop”. I have some photos of the stole that I can share with you via email if you let me know your address.

Peace,

Natalia

Dear Natalia,
We are so happy to have helped!! This stole is absolutely glorious and is an inspiration to me, and I’m sure to all of my readers. It is an honor to have been involved in even a small way with the creation of this beautiful, beautiful piece.

Kiss of peace, and with deepest admiration,

PB and her Readers

When I asked her to tell me a bit more about her training, Natalie wrote:

Where did I learn… I earned my BFA in fashion design from a university in the USA and then did a program in Paris in textile design. I started my career in NY, then moved to Paris to change scenery and have been working as a designer for 5 years here now. The way that I leaned hand embroidery was really my own time as a hobby, from books and the internet. I love it so much I’ve been doing a night course 3 hours a week and am getting an enormous amount of fulfillment from it. I love the tradition, legacy, doing things the old way, the slow way, it’s a forgotten past time … and busy hands make for a quiet mind, it’s time I get to spend with God as well.

Super job on your blog, I’ve been inspired enough to sign up for my own blog, but haven’t posted anything yet:

  1. What love-ly work! The discerning person who sees your godfather wear this will know that someone loves him dearly, because you can’t buy this kind of work. What a dear man he must be!

  2. Brilliant! As a minister AND a textile artist,I am totally impressed. What a gorgeous and meaningful gift.

  3. I was just thinking about that post last Sunday and wondering how the stole had turned out. This is much more elaborate than I had imagined. Lovely.

  4. Natalie-

that’s just utterly beautiful. such a work of grace & love. thanks for sharing it with us.

  5. A bride-to-be devoting so much time and love on another person’s accoutrements for her wedding! We’ll never see that on tv.

  6. I am so grateful to everybody who posted the such helpful comments to my initial query over a year ago. I loved making this for my Godfather because the whole time I was working on it I was thinking of him! In fact, I love hand making gifts because when I give them to the person, I feel as if I am offering to them all of the hours that you spent thinking of them, rather than the item itself. Thanks again!
