Cutesy Animal Shoes

Last year at my church we did a year-long Heifer Project effort, raising enough money to buy an entire ark! It was a great experience, but that still wouldn’t give me permission to wear cutesy animal-oriented shoes like this:

and

No, I ain’t telling you where to get them! They’re ridunculous and thoroughly undignified.

What is that second one, anyway? A spotted guinea pig? Cripes, I thought cutesy sweatshirts with kitty appliques were bad enough! The fashion industry will never tire of coming up with ways to infantilize grown women, my doves. Let’s not encourage them by purchasing nonsense like this. I will concede to fashion as far as babydoll tops, but I stand my ground at Guinea Pig shoes.

  1. Hmmm. I have a pair of zebra-striped kitten heeled slingbacks that I absolutely adore. I don’t wear them for work, of course, but I must say they look fabulous with a pair of dark-wash jeans and a black sweater. Of course… now I’m re-thinking them. 🙂

Would you consider a compromise? I think there is a place for frivolous shoes. But not the pulpit, and not the office. 🙂

  2. (looking at the pictures again). Wait a minute, are those EARS? (falls back in horror)

My cute zebra-striped slingbacks are definitely ear free.

  3. I’ve tried baby doll tops. They scream “Maternity!” on many of us who aren’t terribly slender.

  4. Donna, YES!! You can enjoy those zebra-stripes any time! Because they don’t have EARS!!
@Marcia: I look fat in anything I wear, so I wear babydoll tops or empire waists with cardigans or blazers, usually. They’re cute. But I totally get your point.

  5. No. No. No. No!!!!!

Michael thinks most fashion designers are men playing a cruel joke on women, and that behind closed doors even THEY can’t believe the lengths some women will go to wear their insanely concocted “fashions.”

  6. i have guinea pigs and they would poop in those! they are SOOO ugly! i cant belive they are even in the market! what is this world coming to!
