The Perils of Foils

So I’m getting my hair cut last week and I say to my hairdresser, “Sheri, see how I already have roots where I got my hair colored just two weeks ago? See where it’s blonde around the hairline where she did the foils and then I have like a half inch of roots? Should I go back and have her fix it?”

Sheri says, “Oh yeah, I see. You could. But foils can be hard. They can slip. You weren’t moving around while the foils were in, were you?”

Me: (Thinking) “Well, I always get so bored waiting for the color to process so I usually go and dance in the waiting area a little bit.”

Sheri: “You dance? With the foils in your hair?”

Me: “A little bit.”

Sheri: (Making disgusted face at me)

Me: (Lamely) “But they play really good music at that salon. It’s my fault, isn’t it?”

Sheri: “You’re busted.”

So friends, learn from PeaceBang’s mistake. If you’re getting foils put in, behave yourself or you’ll wind up with slippage, and then you’ll wind up with roots.

And dear Kathleen, I never knew that this sort of thing drives hair colorists crazy, and I’m sorry I’ve been dancing with foils in my hair all these years. Thank you for not clonking me over the head with a big hair dryer. I had no idea.
