Two Sleeps and Two New “Neutral” Faves

Hi, Beautiful People!

I’m going to do a Labyrinth Walk today and feeling very grateful to live in such a beautiful autumn place. God knows me old bones start creaking when the cold comes on, and I have a tough time transitioning to the night coming on so fast, but I’m experimenting with different sleep cycles as a way to combat the early onset exhaustion hitting me at 7pm. I go to sleep when I’m tired (if I don’t have a church meeting) and wake up when I’m rested and work for awhile, and then go back to sleep. I will report back later on my pre-industrial “two sleeps” practice.

For now — PRODUCTS!

These are both new to me, so I thought I’d share.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Glamazon Pure Performance 12-hour Lipstick in Inspired and Butter of London Cheeky Cream Blush in (I love this) Naughty Biscuit. I am wearing both and got them at ULTA.

(I know you can find Butter at Target, too. Both lines are cruelty free)

Nice Shiny Lippy

My recent fave, Coral Kiss by No. 7 Boots.

Love it over a more matte lipstick. It tastes good, has good lasting power, enough pigment to give my lips a pop of color, and is cruelty-free. Available at your regular corner drugstore, which is actually no longer a corner drugstore but a huge multi-national corporation. But, you know.

Pigeon Recommended Lip Primer and Color

The Rev. Dr. Wil Gafney took the time to snap this photo of her beautiful lippy AFTER a prayer breakfast. She had tea. She prayed. And the lippy stayed, pigeons! Can we get an AMEN?

Wil used Too Faced Lip Insurance, a lip primer that obviously works and which PB is totally going to rush right out and get at Sephora.

And she is wearing Hourglass Liquid Lipstick, a luxe, cruelty-free brand out of California with which I’m not at all familiar.

Thank you so much for sending in the beautiful selfie and the product recommendations, Dr. G! You’re looking good in the neighborhood, as always!

Lovely Neutral Lippy by Benefit

Oh, how we LIVE for a good neutral lippy over here at PeaceBang HQ! Something that moisturizes, something that leaves the lip a bit prettier than plain, something that works with PB’s skin tone and doesn’t look like she smooshed baby pink chalk all over her face. Neutrals are tough and you’ve really got to try them on to see if they’ll work for you, but this is a gorgeous formula: Benefit Full Finish Lipstick.

The thing about neutral lippy is that you really shouldn’t expect it to do anything at all for you if you’re not wearing any other make-up. Neutral lipstick is actually a look, and it can wash you out somethin’ terrible if you don’t wear it with evened-out skin, a bit of blush and some eyes. If you want lipstick to do something for you without doing anything else to your face, stick with a nice bright pop of gloss or a sheer berry liptick or a bright cherry red.

I’m wearing Benefit Full Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice.

Cover Girl Lip Perfection

I like this lippy a lot. Lots of colors, goes on smooth, actually lasts for awhile. Around $6.

My new fave color is “Enthrall.” A nice, rich plummy red. I mix and match it with other colors, because I’m so wild that way. Is it time for my afternoon nap?
