Pigeons, are any of you using this BB Cream stuff? It’s ALL THE RAGE and everyone’s doing it!
Birds do it,
Even educated fleas do it!
Let’s do it, let’s fall in love…
Okay, in all seriousness. Ever-helpful Wikipedia tells us that,
BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, or beblesh balm (apparently because of a copyright in Korea on the word “blemish”), and in Western markets, beauty balm. It is a cosmetic item sold mainly in East and Southeast Asia, although larger beauty brands are increasingly introducing BB creams to Western markets.
BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.
Beblesh! That’s hilarious! That’s going right into my working vocabulary. “I can’t believe I’m getting photos taken today and I have this huge beblesh on my chin!”
Anyway, I can’t personally imagine a product so miraculous as to replace serum, moisturizer, primer (which I don’t use anyway), foundation and sunblock but I’d like to hear from you. As you may remember, I have been using Nerium AD which does replace all night creams (except that I sometimes cheat by putting eye cream on top of it). I am very happy with Nerium as it has evened out my skin tone to the point where I am good with a tinted moisturizer during the day and no other products. It has also eliminated some unsightly bumps along my jaw line that I thought were permanent, and is re-surfacing my chest skin entirely, as with a sandblaster. No scrub, masque or treatment has ever worked for my bumpy décolletage, so I’m pretty thrilled about that. Some of you have tried Nerium and have loved it – some have tried it and gotten your money back. Some of you have used it for a couple of weeks on a trial basis (I have a bottle I send out) and have fallen in love, and one has sent it back to me. One 60-something friend recently remarked that Nerium made her skin as soft as a baby’s bottom after one night but that it “tightened like nothing else has ever done.”

Meanwhile, let’s hear about this BB Cream stuff! What do you hear? What do you know? Whattya say?

I’m a Bobbi Brown girl. I love her Tinted Moisturizing Balm from her EXTRA line which combines moisturizer, tint and SPF 25. I wear it nearly every day – unless I need real foundation. She just introduced her BB cream with the serum/treatment additive and I hate the texture and the coverage. The BB cream doesn’t feel moisturizing enough for me but the tinted balm is perfect. I’ve been using it for maybe 10 years.
Does the Nerium ship outside of the USA? It wasn’t apparent to me how to change the destination country. [ I don’t know! I’ll look into it, though, and report back. – PB]
I got the Garnier BB cream and really don’t like it. I find it basically like a tinted moisturiser – very thick and strongly coloured, it goes on and stay greasy, the colour looks mask-like unless I blend in thoroughly and then it doesn’t give the coverage…
I highly recommend a good moisturiser then a decent quality foundation on just the bits that need it (for me around the eyes, nose and a bit on the chin/ around the lips). I’ve never really worn foundation but finding a good one last year I’m such a convert! Much better than just wearing concealer and powder like I used to. Even the best concealer with the best blending kind of gathers and clumps in tiny wrinkles – foundation is much more flattering for me now.
I love the stuff. There’s no real consistency in formulation so you have to try a few. And just to be clear, at least for me, it doesn’t replace serum, night cream, sunscreen when exposed to more than normal stuff, or even foundation for formal occasions (which happen rarely).
You know what I am wondering? If this stuff has potential for the menfolk. [Get yer husband on it. Report back. – PB]
what kind of night eye cream do you use? [Hi Vero, I’m using a REN eye cream right now. I’m almost out and have an Olay product lined up. I do switch around. I use ROC eye cream during the day, as it has SPF. – PB]
I’ve been using the Dr. Jart+ BB cream. It was particularly useful during the summer when I didn’t want or need a full face of moisturizer/foundation/primer because it would all melt off anyway. I probably won’t use it as much now that the seasons turn. It was also great for travel because I could just take one product. Love the stuff!
I started using Maybelline BB a few months ago – just regular-old drugstore stuff. I’ve got pretty young skin (29) but I like it so much better than the foundation I used to wear everyday to even out the ruddy/red skin on my nose, cheeks, and forehead. I pop on the BB, dot concealer over any blemishes that still show through, and dust powder over for shine. Now that winter’s coming I still use moisturizer as well, morning and night. The BB looks much less heavy than foundation, but blurs pores and evens out the skin tone.
